Lady Ga Ga before she was famous
...or she didn't have money to burn on exotic fashion, and now she does?

>> ^osama1234:
Does this mean her current incarnation (weird makeup, hair etc) is nothing more than that, just a front to promote sales.

She seems much more likable like a normal human being.

Yeah I know, but it doesn't matter, since I don't have the necessary privelege for it to actually be invoked even if I did type it * dupeof...

In reply to this comment by demon_ix:
Almost, HaricotVert. It's dupeof=, not dupe of

>> ^Throbbin:
I'm pretty sure the word you're looking for is 'symbology'.

sym⋅bol⋅ism
  /ˈsɪmbəˌlɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sim-buh-liz-uhm]
–noun
1. the practice of representing things by symbols, or of investing things with a symbolic meaning or character.

His vote is a symbol of what he truly believes and/or what he believes is representative of the state/district that elected him. By the time it was his turn to actually vote, it was irrelevant whether he was for or against the health care bill - hence, his vote was purely symbolic.

Also,

sym⋅bol⋅o⋅gy
  /sɪmˈbɒlədʒi/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sim-bol-uh-jee]
–noun
1. the study of symbols.
2. the use of symbols; symbolism.

Unruly Republicans Disrupt Health Care Debate
>> ^quantumushroom:
You guys are statists. You believe the State should control health care and rule those evil corporations with an iron fist. I don't.

Putting aside the illegality and intrusiveness of this socialized medicine bill, do you believe the government of FEMA, the post office, Amtrak and GM--the same government which couldn't meet its own quota of H1N1 flu shots--can efficiently and more cheaply run 1/6th of the economy better than private companies?

Do you really think Pelosi will make good on her threats in this monstrosity of a bill and throw people in jail for not buying health insurance?

A Sane Republican
It bears mentioning that Joseph Cao's vote came after the necessary 218 votes were already clinched for the bill's passage.

His vote either way would not have made a difference in the outcome, aside from symbolism.

Rep. Todd Akin fails the pledge of allegiance
The pledge of allegiance was a socialist invention; I hardly think liberals would be infuriated by its recitation.

To quote Wikipedia: "The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy (1855-1931), a Baptist minister, a Christian socialist, and the cousin of socialist utopian novelist Edward Bellamy (1850-1898)."
