I'm a dick but cmon now guys.
And I'm sorry Kev... I dont click on links to Fox News. Besides...[D]'s just now got their best hand in congress dealt, and 6 months into the admin. Can you give it a year at least to actually see??
Believe it or not, the perspective and attitude of a leader can be important.
edit: And just in, Palin has resigned?? See. Give it a DAY at least, heh heh.
Single Payer
A system paid for by the government (where the people of our nation cares for the people in our nation) that doesn't discriminate against people with preexisting conditions NEEDS to be what is available to us.
You don't see all the other industrialized countries with single payer begging to change their system to be like the U.S.
One, he's probably going to help this lady out regardless.
Two, I frankly wouldn't care if pushing a beneficial agenda like this he exploits people's empathetic emotional response, it's not like making well reasoned arguments has ever worked in politics, and when it comes down to consistently either no progress or being somewhat exploitative, I'd take the latter any day.
Three, he did touch on a very important actual issue that denying access to health care for people with pre-existing conditions, then letting them worsen and eventually having them wind up at the emergency room is incredibly inefficient, costly and frankly amoral.
This is the best quote I've found about the "public option" to date:
So the public option is about competition. Ironically, the argument that it would “undermine the free market” can only be made by people who don’t believe in and don’t want a free market. There is no reason why a not-for-profit insurance plan should not compete with the vast array of for-profit plans, in a free market. What those who argue against the public option are saying is: they want a market rigged in favor of those who put profit before people, and they don’t want to have to compete to make quality care more affordable.

Hey, maybe he's hugging her to apologize given how everybody (including him) just loves to dick around with stem cell funding.
Yeah, but why cure diseases when you can treat them ineffectively for twice the cost?
